How Does a Holiday Table
for Family and Friends Come Together?

By: Wendy Carpenter-Israel

I always have loved trying to create a pretty dining room table when entertaining family and friends in our home. I enjoy changing the theme each month. Steve and I often invite folks over last minute, so I like having my table ready to go. I'm ready for a dinner party of 10+ guests with 24 hours notice. And I'm also ready for the last minute, spontaneous bash for 75+. Buffet or sit down, we're good to go!

Over the years, my friends have asked me "How do I make these tables?" For me, it's a labor of love. I truly enjoy putting these tablescapes together. With that in mind, this past December as my holiday table was coming together, we took pictures as it

When homeowners decorate their houses in the Washington, DC metro area, the finishing touch for many is a vase full of flowers that will greet them on a table by the front door. Deck the Halls... With Home Decor Ideas

From Other Women! Fa la la la!

By Wendy Carpenter-Israel

Updated December 21, 2015

Where do creative ideas come from when decorating your home? With websites like Houzz and Pinterest, the possibilities are exciting, inspiring and endless. At times however, the abundance and often the absurdity of the images available on the web today can make the creative process a little overwhelming. That's why when a home decor idea comes to you from out of the blue, it often ends up being the creative idea that brings a homeowner the most pleasure overtime.  Though it's a bit convoluted, one of my favorite home decor ideas came when I least expected it. I started collecting sterling silver sugar

Heard of the Ripple Effect in Real Estate?

March 21, 2015

We've all heard of the ripple effect. I like to think that homeowners nurture and care for their properties while they live in them. Whether we live in a home for a few years or for many decades, we all leave our imprint on them and then we pass them on. Recycle, renew and reuse... Here's a great story by the Washington Post that shares a ripple effect of a home being loved and enjoyed before it's sold and shared with another family. At Buyer's Edge, we love what we do.

Original Contemporary Art Work Reflects the Creative Spirit of Buyer's Edge

February 25, 2015

Wendy Carpenter-Israel

Last year when Buyer’s Edge moved to our new location in the Washington, DC metro area, we decided to create an office environment that reflected our positive, innovative and creative spirit.  Since our buyer brokerage firm offers homebuyers a bright alternative when buying a home, we wanted our new office space to mirror that upbeat opportunity. Buyer’s Edge has never been a traditional real estate company, so we had no desire for our offices to look like one.

Since our buyer’s agents represent homebuyers 100% of the time, we hoped to design an office that was eye-catching, sleek and modern. The corporate offices of Uber,

Let’s be honest, it’s a little unnerving to see holiday greenery and fairy lights all a blaze a couple weeks before Thanksgiving.  Some people go into a total panic after hearing the song, "Jingle Bells", on the radio for the first time.  These sights and sounds are alarms warning us that the holiday season is just around the corner and there's a lot of work to be done in order to prepare for them. Hold your horses, put on the brakes and try to take a few deep breaths. Ignore those pesky red and blue bows and take some time to relax and enjoy Thanksgiving Day with family and friends. The freight train is coming, but it doesn't have to derail you. Remember there's a lot of fun to be had during the next few
